Our friends just got a 2004 32VS Southwind with Power Gear Jacks/Slides. We need to check and if necessary fill the hydrolic fluid reservoir. We found it behind the slide on the driver side. We know you need to retract the jacks to check the fluid level, however, if we bring the slideout in we can't get to the reservoir at all. Is it safe to bring the jacks up with the slideout out? Also, we found zerk fittings on the two rear jacks but none on the front jacks, is this correct or are we missing something? They don't have any manuals at all for anything!!!!! We want them to have a good experience with their new rig so any help you folks can give will be appreciated.

I had my 2005 Revolution in the shop yesterday for a slide problem and a jack problem. I have had my slides out with the jacks retracted without a problem just don't drive or move it. The jack fluid which I just changed, I was told by Power Gear to use a type A fluid which is Mercon or Dextron III. transmission fluid {automatic}.
My jack system has a bad relief by pass valve and the slide was diagnosed as a bad pressure relief valve. It turns off early due to normal resistance. I hope this helps.

I added fluid yesterday, because the idiot mech. that replaced the jack, forgot to put the fluid in after ted]sting and bleeding the new jack, the red "Jacks are down" light kept going on everytime I turned left.
I found the best thing to dispence the fluid is a Turkey Baster, because there isn't enough room to get a funel in.
My DW is going to give me a fit come Thanksgiving--No I did not put it back in the drawer.

My 2003 Bounder only has the zerk fittings on the two rear jacks. I'm not sure if that's because they are a higher weight capacity, but in any case, I think yours are probably correct.

May I make a suggestion? Email Powergear at info@powergearus.com and ask them.

Hi all,I think the slide cylinders are double acting meaning oil is on both sides of the piston...the jacks are single acting cylinders....spring return...
they must be up when checking the oil level slides make no difference as they are always full of oil....

Many thanks to you all for the help. I did e-mail power gear but their answers were not complete and it was as if they had not really read my questions. It seems like you can always count on the folks at IRV2 to respond with much needed help. Thanks again.
