Yep! Went to raise the jacks today and they went into alarm.

RR jack would not retract. Removed the boot, nothing but dust fell out, removed the brake and raised the jack in manual mode. One of the screws on the inside of the brake showed corrosion.

I ordered a brake and new boot from Fleetwood for about $37 + $3 packing charge (?) and UPS charges. So far I've replaced four brakes, two complete jacks and the controller board in 28 months. What a deal!

Fleetwood did say they were no longer using Power Gear levelers...lot that helps me.

Have I mentioned how much I detest Power Gear.

Jim...Did you ask Fleetwood if it is possible to switch them out for what they are now using?

I sure did MM. They have gone back to hydraulic jacks and the cost would be about $3000 labor plus parts. Of course at the rate I'm going, that might be a good financial decision.

Hi Jim,

Just for my own edification, what type of Power Gear jacks do you have? I'm new to this and thought all "Power Gear" were hydraulic, as mine are. By the way, I have just replaced my second hyd. jack. Boy do they bend easily! Roland

I feel your pain. I replaced a jack ( under warr. ) due to water intrusion ( corroded the brake ). I have since replaced all the tie wraps around the boots with metal bands and siliconed around the boot edge as well.I'm hoping this will help. It's been 4 months but I haven't driven in any heavy rain since.

My last repair (replaced the left rear brake, motor and gear assy becauase FW would/could not sell just the brake) was just before Christmas. One 30 mile trip with no rain. Its been in my driveway since. Started to move it and the right jack failed. This is whats scary, dust was in the boot when I removed it yet there was still some corrosion on the brake. "condensation, maybe?"

Just out of curiosity.. Can you clean/ scrape the corrosion from the jack assembly ? Perhaps coat or spray the inside with a lubricant ?
That left rear jack does seem to be a problem. I have had that one replaced under warranty
already

Your original post said that you ordered the brake from fw for $37.This one says fw wouldn't sell you just the brake. Which is it? I'm confused.

This threads original post says I ordered the brake from FW for $37. The original post you're referring to was on another thread when I had the same problem in December. They would/could not sell just the brake in December, They will sell just the brake now. Two different threads, two different levelers...December was the left, January was the right.

I'm scheduled to get the brake today.

I have taken my 08 Bounder in for service 4 different times for jack problems. I have replaced all jacks with the new upgraded version and I have had 2 failures since. I believe the front left is the faulty now. Im headed back tomorrow so I will let you know. I wish power gear would upgrade us free of charge to the fluid powered jacks. They know the electric ones are junk.

I received the jack brake from Fleetwood Thursday. As I was reading the "instruction sheet from PG", I noticed both wires coming out of the brake appeared to have been "cut, nicked or pinched" enough that the insulation was broken. Called FW and after sending them a picture they are shipping me another brake.

Have I mentioned how frustrated I am with Power Gear?

I knew they upgraded the slide motor but was unaware they upgraded the jack motor.

Do you happen to know the part # of these new Jacks?

Thanks

Cliff
