I have an '04 Providence which is new to me and I have a couple of questions for anyone who may be able to help. This is a Freightliner chassis with a Cummins ISC.
I find the engine runs cool. Yes, that's better than hot, but I wonder if this is normal. Rather than come to the centre of the guage, the needle sits at the 1/3 mark. Granted, ambient has been cool as well.
On the thermostat, I have a setting in both zones for electric heat, but it seems to turn on the a/c units and the furnace. Is there really electric heat in the roof units?
I'm sure there will be more questions coming, but that's a start.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Not sure what to tell you about the engine temp. Appears you don't have an actual temp reading, just a needle guage? If so, you really have no idea where 'normal' is on that guage. Can you contact the previous owner?
You should be able to select either 'gas' or electric heat at the thermostat. If you choose electric and it's very cold, both may run until the interor temp is brought up a bit. If outside temps are below about 40, the electric element is all but useless.

If your roof top ac units are heat pumps then yes you can set it to electric heat and run the a/c in reverse cycle mode which will heat, there are no electric heat strips in the unit it just runs the a/c in reverse cycle/ heat pump mode that is why it sounds like your a/c is on, because on a heat pump the compressor runs in both heat and cool mode.
As for the temp issue, not sure if the 2004 has the dash display that my 08 has that displays time, mileage, fuel econ, etc. and has a little joy stick on the right side on the dash that allows you to scroll through the different items, if so scroll down to fuel econ or some other one and while that one is highlited on the display push the joy stick to the right if I remember correctly and you can scroll through different options with one of them being engine temp, if the first one you try does not show eng. temp scroll down to the next item and try again. On mine I can display turbo boost, real time mileage, eng. temp and a bunch of other things.

When you are using the roof top heat pumps, the gas furnace will also come on if you have the setpoint four degrees above the ambient temp. Example: if the inside coach temp is 58 and you set the thermostat to 65, the gas furnace will also come on until it gets up to temp.
The temp sensor needle on my coach also is about 1/3 and that relates to a 194 degree readout on my LBCU.

That's a really good question. I know it's a 350hp and the books I have are Cummins. The Fleetwood website says their units are equipped with Cummins.

On the left side of the steering wheel is a display. Scroll till you find the engine settings and choose temp. Then you can check the actual temp.
Other question has been answered.
