Sonny,
This is an interesting video.
I am considering doing to my 94 35' MH. I am extremely interested
in more details.
My service guy watched it and was horrified that he used a
wire brush on the rubber roof. What are you thoughts on
that?
Per chance, do you have an update? I think it would be important
to get a report as to how the whole job went esp. with regards
to the effectiveness several years later.
Hope you can help.
David

David,
Sorry for taking so long but I have been busy redoing the kitchen in my Motorhome so haven't had time to come on here.( Story for another day )
As far as I know the roof on my old Bounder is holding up fine. I spoke to the dealer that bought it awhile back and no problems. He said the customer does take it there for service and I will send him another mail to inquire.
I have not done my current MH and am waiting for it to warm up a little more.
I am confident that this product works and would not use it if it would damage the roof on my motorhome. Either way my roof is kinda shot so if I have to replace the roof after this, then I would only be a couple dollars out.

Well I ordered the Liquid Rubber today and noticed this on their website:
IMPORTANT: ProFlex Primer is required on any RV Roof where someone has already put another third party coating/sealant on original roof. The primer will ensure a proper surface for the Liquid Roof and will also ensure your warranty. Liquid Roof also cannot be put on “alpha” roofs. Fleetwood was a popular maker for alpha roofs. If you are unsure what your original roof is, then you need to apply a coating of the ProFlex primer as a cautionary measure to ensure that the liquid roof bonds to the surface.
So I then ordered the Proflex Primer. I am sure my 1994 Bounder must not have had a Alpha roof as the coating went on fine and still no problems reported from new owners.
I will be doing my roof in couple weeks and will report on how it went with applying the primer first.
Hope this hepls.
BTW here is the link to EPDM Coatings:

Never mind the above post. I didn't check the beginning of the thread where they mention it.
I had emailed Fleetwood and like all the others reply's- all they said was it's a Alpha Roof and not to coat it with anything.
I think they are not clear on exactly what material the membrane is. I went to check and I definitely have a EPDM roof so I'm canceling the primer and just going to coat it like I did on my old motorhome.

Our Dutch Star has a BriteTek roof, they say not to put anything on it. I clean it yearly and spray 303 on it. After 11 years it still looks almost new. Naturally I do have to watch the seals around the openings and vents.

I would like to use Liquid Roof for my Bounder but, just like you, I don't know if I have an Alpha roof or not. I also know that I do have an EPDM roof. My Bounder is a 1990 and the roof is in pretty bad shape. I'm interested to know how this goes for you. I look forward to your update!

The problem with my roof is that it is in bad shape. I have had to do a lot of patching since I bought it. I really have nothing to loose as the worse is that I would have to replace it afterwards. Like I said before I did my previous 1994 Bounder and that turned out perfect.

I don't see a reason why you could not do it. Look at my pictures on post #16.
This was on my previous 1994 Bounder. I had it for 1 year after doing it and as far as I know its still perfect. Like I said in the previous post, if you are unsure of the roof, then first apply a coat of there primer and there should be no problems. I'm going to call EPDM coatings and see if they can clarify the "Alpha" dilemma, I think Alpha is the brand and its a specific material from them that causes a problem. They do also supply EPDM membrane which to me EPDM should be EPDM no mater what correct?
I will report what they say.

Your BritetTek roof is TPO and not EPDM. This discussion does not apply to that roof.

Good luck on getting an answer that satisfies all your questions. I've been down that road with all parties. Nobody wants to take responsibility for saying what will, and what will NOT cause a problem.
It was (is) the Alpha Systems EPDM (not just some specific product) that caused the adverse reaction with the liquid roof coating.
Just remember, the primer is really an epoxy, and will prevent the liquid roof/rubber coating from actually chemically melding with the existing EPDM membrane. The result is like putting a new thin membrane over the old (with a layer of epoxy between).
I'm satisfied with how mine turned out, but there has to be a better (and cheaper) way.

Thanks,
Was a lot of work as this is 37ft, but I did a lot of cleaning and repairs to everything on the roof.
Definitely worth the while and I recommend it.
