Smile Recommended Coolant for Cummins 350

Folks,

I just purchased a 40 ft. 2004 Fleetwood Revolution with a Cummins 350 Diesel.

I want to purchase some added coolant to carry with me.

1) What is the recommended coolant for the 350 Cummins?
2) What is the recommended coolant for the generator?
3) Where can the coolant be purchased? (Wallmart??)

Thanks in advance.

Vinnie

First you probably need to find out what coolant is in the coach.

It will either be low silicate diesel coolant that you will have to add SCA's (Special Coolant Additives) in order to prevent cavitation in the wet lined cylinders of the ISC engine or extended life coolant that does not require the addition of SCA''s.

Low silicate/SCA required coolants are generally green in color. Extended life coolant that I have seen is red in color.

I've used Compleat ES in my ISC 350 since new ...it is blue. The ES stands for extended service. SCA balance is accomplished by yearly test, and use of proper coolant filter indicated by by the test results. I normally buy it at Cummins dealers or service places.

The Onan generator uses standard green coolant.
