Hi Folks

I responded to a slide out article earlier but probably should have posted my own request. Anyways I'm green at this but here goes.

The carpeting beneath the LR slide somehow go caught and pulled out of the anchor strip. Had to pry up the unit with a cat bar while my wife ran it in a foot or so to get it stowed properly til we got home.

I think I will have to slide it out far enough to make repairs or change the carpet. E-mails to Fleetwood went unanswered and there aren't any dealers around here.

Does anyone have an idea as to proceedures for removing the trim, the top trim is caulked, and the slide itself. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

In tight areas, such as under the slideout, we always glued a screwdriver tip into a 1/4 in socket and used a airpowered ratchet gun.

Thank-you for the idea. I'd thought about doing something similar but was a little hesitent incase I striped the screw. Guess it wouldn't matter much in the long run.

I'll give it a try tomorrow. Is it normal practise to remove the slider if you were changing the carpet in the coach or would you use your bag of tricks like the modified screw driver. I found that by lifting the slider slightly and pushing a kitchen throw mat underneath, the unit slides in and out just fine. Also the adjuster on the slide rail is maxed out on that end for no apparent reason so I'll try lowering it a little and see if it helps.

Thanks for your help.

Bob

I had te same problem and I took contact cement, painted both surfaces of the underside ofr the carpet as thickly as possible. (after running the slide IN just a little bit) I then took a piece of 3/4" plywood of the appropriate size, loaded it wit books, bricks, etc. that would add some heft while it dried.

I left it for a few days, THEN WALLA!! It has held for several months so far.

It seems to be a common problem. I've just about run out of ideas except what you have suggested. As one other poster said, they use the "glue from hell" and glue the roofing to the aluminum top rail and it is almost impossible to remove without damaging the fabric. Guess they probably just wack it off and either do a patch job or replace the works.

The carpet is out of the clamp strip for about 18" so I'm going to try the glue trick.

Thanks for the suggestions.
