Those of you who have removed the front TV and replaced it with a flat screen; how did you get it out, and how hard was it to get through the door? I like to herniated myself taking out the little 20" in the bedroom ('03 Southwind); I bet the front TV weighs a ton, plus which I'm not sure how it comes out. Hopefully, it fits through the door or I'll be dismantling it in place; the manual doesn't give dimensions.

On the plus side, the new 19" flat screen in the bedroom works a treat! $159 at Best Buy, plus another $20 or so for the mount, and a piece of plywood and some hardware to attach it all to. Even leaves room for its own DVD player underneath.

The front TV comes out like the back bedroom TV only very heavy. I did it by myself and it went from the cabinet to the floor with me hanging on, bring a friend when you take it out. It will fit out the door.

Not sure which year or model you have. I did the replacement on our 2000 Bounder 31w when we owned it.

To get the TV out, There are 4 screws that hold the frame around the face of the TV. Remove them and remove the square face. Then there is a board going across the top of the TV with a screw on each end of the board where it meets the side of the cabinet. This board holds the TV down so it can't jump over the piece of wood at the bottom of the front of the cabinet. Remove that top piece and then lift out the TV. Have someone there to help you as you will have to hold it out and disconnect cables.

I made a mount for the flat screen which is another post if needed.

Dave

Ditto here - with a buddy,it was pretty easy. Got to remember to disconnect all wires from the back. When I put the new 26" flat panel in, I found I could retain the frame and it was pretty slick looking!

Talked to a mobile RV tech who was working on a neighbor's rig. He had a helper with him. For $20, they lifted the old 26" tube RCA out and hauled it away. Weighed over 100#. It just fit through the door.

Not much to add, except if you push the existing TV back a little, you can then see the flanges and screws that hold the front trim frame in place. Use a long shaft, magnetic philips head driver or you'll go nuts trying to reinstall the trim frame. Existing analogue TV is heavy. Get a friend to help. In my 2005 Pace Arrow, had to remove the vertical grab handle by the entrance door before we could get the TV out of the RV.

Good luck. BTW, think about adding both a USB cable and an extra HDMI cable for the new flat screen. Attach them to the proper ports on the TV and let them hang down. This way, later on, if you want to hook up your computer via the USB/HDMI cable, just reach in below the screen and pull out the proper cable for the hookup. I also ran an extra dual RCA cable through the back from the left compartment to the right compartment in case I need to replace or add another component later on. Can also be used as a pull through in case you need to run another type of cable later on.

I have posted this somewhere else, but, I did not use the buddy system. When I had everything disconnected, I turned around to put some tools on the counter and heard a crash. TV out and on the floor! I was lucky not to get hurt so I didn't care, it went to the dump anyway.

We replaced the front TV with a flat screen, took two of us since I didn't want to drop it. Looks great thought now that both the back and front TV's are flat screens. Was not hard to remove the frame and brace the new TV into the front cabinet.

Have changed out the bedroom TV with new flat screen. The old TV was quite heavy but don't know the actual weight. Now the front is coming out next and I do know it weighs in at 98#. I'll have some help with that one, not that I couldn't get it out myself but they are quite awkward to handle. I believe with that one I'm just going to have a cabinet front door made to match the interior and set the flat screen on the dash when we're parked. Having the screen in the lower position will help our viewing angle and help with the stiff neck I seem to get when watching it where it is now. Besides the upper cabinet can store some other stuff when it's done.
