Removing toilet holding tank 1989 Tioga

I have a 1989 Tioga 26ft motor home. The straps holding the tank up have rusted away. The rear strap has rusted apart and the front strap is barely holding. My question is if I cut the strap and lower the tank with a jack will the tank separate from the toilet or is it glued to the toilet spout? I think I can get the wires disconnected from the sensors at the rear so that shouldn't be a problem.

Can be messy and troublesome.

I would try to restrap it where it is.

The toilet has a closet flange just like your house. Some are screw on and some are glued. You also have a vent pipe that is run into the top of the tank. Your best bet is to secure the tank in place without dropping it.

I was afraid that would be the case. The room to re-strap it is very limited on the outboard side. I guess getting it all lined up to put it back up would be hard to do as well.

Has anyone dropped the tank on a 1989 Tioga? Is there anyway to know if it's glued or has a grommet? Does the factory have any records about how the different models and years of manufacturer were done?

Welcome to iRV2, Carl. Sorry you're having a problem. I doubt that this will help, but here's a link to the owner's manual for your Tioga. http://fleetwoodrv.com/partsandservi...1989_TIOGA.pdf

I don't know if Fleetwood has the manufacturing data, but you can call their customer service at (800) 322-8216. Good luck.
