I have a 01 Fleetwood Southwind and am pretty baffled at how to replace the low beam headlight on the passengers side. My head lights are rectangular shaped and there are two different fixtures "one for the low beam and one for the high beam". I pulled the fixture out with the burnt out bulb and noticed that it's not like a typical automotive headlight, the bulb seems to be built into the fixture(much like my fog light.... $45). I called Fleetwood and they quoted me $197.00 to replace the light fixture and couldn't give me any other information. Please help if you've experienced this as surely it won't cost me $200 to replace a headlight. Thanks so much for your help.

Sounds like the older style sealed-beam headlights. Are there 2 or 3 prongs sticking out the back of the fixture? Does the wire connector just pull off and push on? Was it held in place by a ring with screws on the front of the fixture?
It it is a sealed beam headlight, you can buy them almost anywhere. Parts store or Wally World. Cheap, too. Just make sure you get the low beam one for a 4-light system.
A picture would help. Does it look like this?

Thanks Cougarkid, yes the lamp does have three prongs on the rear and has a electrical hookup that pulls on and off. It also does have the metal thing that screws around it to hold it into place. Thanks a lot for your help...I knew that it shouldn't be 197.00 to replace a light bulb, but knowing fleetwood, it doesn't suprise me?? thanks again

You will probably find a part number or a bulb number on it somewhere. If you can't find it locally give eBay a try.

Wow, that's quite a markup there for FW.
But then just today I paid $45 for 2 A/C vents that I've seen online for about 6.50 each. I won't make that mistake again.

FW was quoting the price for the "light fixture" which I suspect would be the whole headlight assembly, not just a bulb. They probably don't sell the bulbs.
$45 compaired to $13 is quite a jump, but then, what was the shipping charge going to be?
I am more than willing to pay a few extra bucks, within reason, to buy something from my local parts/rv stores. It keeps them in business. If I don't support them, they could close and then I am forced go out of town to buy. Or worse, have to buy online and wait for it to be shipped to me. Some things are no big deal to wait for, like the a/c vents. But having to wait a week or 2 for a mechanical part really sucks.
Start capaitor went out on one of my a/c's this summer and no one local had it. Ordered on line and waited a week for it. Luckily I have dual a/c's.
