RV 101 / Awning Question / 1997 Carefree of Colorado - Recreational Vehicle Awnings
I hope I'm not making a pest of myself or creating a "name for myself" with these newbie questions.
When I purchased this 1997 American Dream I got a very complete set of Chassis manuals, user manuals, and a note book that contained a lot of instruction manuals for the install "extras".
One manual that was not contained was how to use the awnings. I have sent a request to Carefree of Colorado for the instructions, and perused their web site looking for the instructions but there are just to many to figure out what I have without the model and serial number.
From their web site it appears that the plate that has that information is on the inside of the leading edge of the awning and I do not know how to expand it.
Any one have a set of manuals that they can scan and send me or give me some basic instructions on how to use these. The big on on the right side is different from the rest of the window awnings.

You can never ask enough questions. What would we do without them . It looks like a manual type to me. I don't see a strap in the middle which is used to lower / open it once the handles are released. Hopefully someone with a similar one will be along shortly.

Well with the help of FormerBoater , a forum member, I was able to get the awnings out and back up. Learned three things, one as a standard piece of equipment I need a small step latter, there is a definite order to moving the braces around, and two these things love to pinch fingers.
I deployed and retracted the main one several times and think I have it down now. The loop on the strap to open the main awning broke so I will have to look into replacing that.
Found a light in the large awning rollor, with a plug on the end of it but can fins no place to pug it in. See below

I have to agree with your comments, 1) not sure how much I will use it, 2) having to climb a latter to pug it in will be a PITA, and my own comments 3) as the socket faces forward I have to believe it is totally corroded out 4) with only one I bet it does not through much light ( I have not tried it)

You can usually stand in the doorway and plug the light in. No ladder needed.

I got the light to light, it is basically useless, troughs next to no light, if the whole awning roller was full then you would have something.

Very good, to someone that has done this many times it most likely seems over simple, but to a newbei like me it was a good video. Thanks.
Only thing I do different is I tighten the locking knobs before lifting the awning.
