RV air hose connection

Have had our RV for a couple of years now and just discovered the air hose connection. Bought the necessary parts and tested. I get about 120 psi from the compressor. However, when I open the cover on the front to get to the hose connection or the generator, the cover won’t stay up. Are the pistons on the side of the cover supposed to hold it up or do I have to find another part to hold it up?

Find a replacement gas spring/strut. Just measure the stroke of the one you have and find a match. To figure out how much lifting strength you need, place a rod/firm stick at the point where the strut will be mounted, with a scale under it. The amount of weight pushing down, at the mounting point, is how much lifting strength you need. Don't just measure at the far edge, as the leverage/strength needed to lift increases as you move toward the hinge point.

Here are some examples;

There's a number on the side with all the information, cross reference on Google. Easy to replace.
