Hi guys...me again...been @ 4 wks since we picked up the New, 1st RV...(04 Southwind 32, V10)
I am planning on checking the 'psi' on all 6 tomorrow, and I'm sure the "bike pump" will not work on 80psi and Up!
Where does everyone get "air" for their gassers when at home base... ??? Thanks

I picked up one of these a couple of weeks ago.

Trim Plus 3-Gallon Electric Air Compressor-H1503TP at The Home Depot

It's reasonably fast, light, portable and it fits in one of my cabinets with room to spare.

It's not exactly quiet though.

I read lots of positive in these threads about this one----150 psi. 99 bucks

I have a home compressor-so do not use a portable but as I said---lots of good comments about this one.

Hey Muddypaws,

I've been using the H1503TP for 2 years and have it in basement next to this! 50 Ft. Retractable Air / Water Hose Reel w/ 3/8" Hose
The air hose reel was on sale at Harbor Freight for $59.99 and I love the combo.

Steve
With 50 feet of great 3/8" air hose, I can reach any tire on my 36 footer.

I read somewhere in the past, that getting 'air' from one of those "quarter-feed" pumps at gas stations was not a good idea because of "moisture", in the low end compressors...??

If I need air tomorrow, and no home compressor, where is a good place? Tire store?

Thanks.... ;-))

I would assume a tire dealer would be a good fit, also a truck stop if there is one close. As far as the compressor at home I have the Sears model shown in one of the posts above and have had it for seven years now. It to is not quiet but gets the job done. If you do get one, dump the air in it after you finish using it and leave the outlet open. This prevents moisture from gathering in the tank.

I've been using the one above from Home Depot, works great. Noisy, but gets the job done

This is what I use to fill the 19.5 tires on our Bounder. Works just fine.

I just read on some forum, maybe even this one, that you can purchase a portable filter, fit it with the adapters you need, and it will filter out the moisture for those service station fill-ups. It is small and unobtrusive.

I'm fortunate in that my DP has an air fitting that I can use to fill to 110 without a problems.

Just a side note, I needed to top off 1 tire which was low (thanks TST) on the way home from taking the MH out of storage. Stopped at a Tire America and was told they could not help me as their pump was regulated to 80 PSI max. Coprorate policy for saftey reasons. They did pump me up to 80 PSI which got me home. Also, the manager came out and chastized the worker for pumping up a tire which was not "in the shop", policy and safety concerns once again.

I found that my onboard air won't deliver much more than 90 PSI and I run my fronts at 115. So I needed a way to get air wherever we are. I got the H1503TP because it only draws 12 Amps so I can run it off my generator. Even a Honda 2000i can run it!

I wish I'd had one with me the day I waited 3 1/2 hours for a tow truck on the road to Las Vegas. (They got lost!)

If you have room the larger units are really nice because of the volume of air they can deliver. I've had the smaller 2-3 gallon tanks for years, but I found this unit on sale for $139 and jumped on it. It is much nicer to fill these larger tires, but I have room for it and carry a small unit to travel with.
