Shower Enclosure Crack

On my 2010 Bounder 35H, the shower enclosure wall cracked. There is a crack about two feet long. I noticed the crack when I brought it home this spring out of storage. I called Fleetwood Parts and asked about buying the shower enclosure wall. I was told that part is no longer available. The supplier, Duo-Form, no longer makes the part. I was then told Fleetwood has nothing for me. What! Now I have a cracked shower wall and Fleetwood says too bad. Has anybody else have had the shower walls crack? If yes, what did you do to fix it? I am surprised Fleetwood has not helped me on this.

I'd measure the dimensions of the shower stall, then take a tape measure down to your local big box home improvement store. You could buy a tub or shower surround that could be trimmed to fit in the space. They aren't hard to cut down to the size you need. You'll have to decide whether to have one slightly different panel or replace the whole surround, saving the other parts for future repairs.

Shower Enclosure Crack

There are a lot of aftermarket suppliers that may still have it, but you will probably need the part number to find one. Yours may be repairable, depending on the material.

The shower wall is a three sided one piece design. It is one continous piece that covers all three sides. I checked Menard and then had nothing that would work. The width of the motor home shower is 42". What Menard had was a three sided one piece that was 44" wide. You can't trim it to fit. I will see if Fleetwood can give me the part number.

A 3 section surround would allow trim of each piece to fit the dimensions of your space. If the original supplier is out of business, you have to get creative. A single piece surround is perhaps why the original cracked, it tried to contract in the winter cold and didn't have the freedom to shrink that far, so it had to crack. A 3 piece might have more expansion/contraction allowance.

Our shower surround stress-cracked down from a screw head 3 winters ago, when we had an unusually low cold snap followed by a fast warm up. The crack is about 10" long & I haven't done anything more with it than pin-hole drill it out at the end so it doesn't extend any further. It hasn't grown or changed in any way....yet. Could possibly repair with a fiberglass repair kit but it's way up top in the back/angled away where the shower spray doesn't get to it, so I'm not too concerned about it. The repair would probably be way more noticeable then the existing crack anyway.

Novi2some,

You could check with a mobile home (manufactured home) supplier, many mobile homes have garden tubs/showers that measure 42", and are 1 pc, 3 sided, they come in white or bone color. Depending on your location there are far more suppliers for mobile homes than motorhomes. Also most abs shower and wall companys have cleaning instructions when new that state not to use any cleaning agent that has citrus in it,like lemon or orange scented products.
I have replaced many shower walls that cracked prematurely due to customers using the wrong cleaners. I know the walls are delicately folded as to not crease the corners and boxed, not sure about shipping ups,(big box) but you can inquire at places like mobile home depot.com or the like. hope this helps.
