We got such great feedback from this site about our AC & gas challenges, that we wanted to ask one more question before heading into the shop about our slides. We have a Fleetwood Gas Class A with triple slides.

We are trying to determine if our slides have an issue, or if they are working 'as designed'. Our concerns are as follows:

-loud rubbing noise when being brought in & out
-inside trim gets pushed in, so is being separated from the wall when we put the slide out (living room side)
-trim around slide on outside gets pushed out when the slide is all the way out (kitchen slide)
(basically it seems like the slide is not adjusted correctly?!?)

Has anyone had experience with these slight slide issues and is there anything we can do to 'test' or 'align' before making a shop trip?

My slides always creak and groan and sometimes "rub" when going in and out...lub everything that moves with a dry lub or silicone...not WD 40.

Hard to say from your description. The trim (rubber insulation) should move out with the slide then in with the slide, this helps to keep wind and rain out. As further explanation, when the slides are out, the blade or piece of rubber insulation should also be out.

Has anyone had experience with these slight slide issues and is there anything we can do to 'test' or 'align' before making a shop trip?

If they need aligning, you should have a separate owner's manual that tells you how to do that, it's not difficult. If you don't have the manual, normally one can be downloaded from the manufacturer's web site.

Yes we had a very similar situation this pat week. It was found that the wedges underneath the slide that guide the slide in and out became loose and out of whack. It caused some damage to molding both in and out. The service tech adjusted the wedges and made sure they wont move again causing the slide to be out of aline. Hope this helps?

From what I have been reading, there seems to be two kinds of people that have sliders. Those who have had some problem with them, and those who will have some problem with them.

well that's not very promising news... We had figured an older coach with slides would give us challenges, but they make SUCH a difference in living space. Guess we will take it into a shop & see how it goes.

In our case it was found to be a design flaw. We believe it's now corrected and are not anticipating having problems with it again. However we have been at it long enough to know that no matter what theres always something that needs repair. Hopefully it's either covered or not too expensive...

So far were willing to deal with the possibilities of problems because we enjoy the lifestyle so much. However if our finances were to change we would have to consider alternatives. Keep the faith and enjoy as long a you can!

Our bad experience with one of our slides was due to our not paying enough attention or in too big of a hurry to get set up or whatever, but one of the locks was not fully released. This happened on our second time out (I don't just mean with this coach, I mean total greenhorns on their second time out EVER!!), so it was very unsettling to say the least. The folks at the park office at Detroit Greenfield were very helpful, our first experience with Good Sam road service was excellent and the chap they eventually found to tackle the repair would not give up until he had the problem corrected. He then gave us a break on the bill too boot!
All in all a bad situation made a whole lot better by a handful of very concerned, dedicated & most helpful people.
Here's hoping the outcome of your slide problem is at least as good, Keith & Tricia.

I always assist (push) the slide as it goes in and out. Wife pushes the button. If anyone has been underneath their RV to see how small the motor is and how dirty the mechanism gets would do the same.
