Slide Quit Working

Unlike my class C, my Bounder requires you to have the motor running to operate the slides. I recently let my chassis battery run down and had to start the engine with the coach batteries. Surprisingly, my slides would not work with the engine running.

Thinking that my battery condition had something to do with the slide operation I ran my generator and drove around for a while to charge up my chassis battery. The chassis battery now starts the engines and meter says it up the 13.xx volts range but my slides are still dead.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Dave

Here's a link to the manual in case you need it.

http://support.powergearus.com/techdocs/82-S0010-01.pdf

It says you have resettable breakers for the slide. You may want to check them. Also is your Parking brake on and transmission in park ?

There's a chance I forgot to set my parking brake. I will check that first.

Thanks

Well Cliff you were right on with the parking brake not being set.
I didn't realize that was a requirement. Time to read the manual.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
Glad you found the problem. Some helpful tips: Fleetwood states to run your engine when moving the slides to supply extra current, but if you are plugged in to shore power you don’t need to run the engine. Shore power will deliver enough power for your converter to supply power for the slides. Also, if you open a window or vent when operating the slides, it moves so much easier with air equalizing vs. pressuring up.

I haven't seen FWs recommendations on this but I know that Power Gear recommends the engine to be running. I have moved my slides without the engine for various reasons on occasion however the ignition key must be in ACC position.
