slide seal adjustment

The bottom seal on the refrigerator/dinette slide of my 2016 Fleetwood Flair 26e was not functioning properly. When the slide was fully extended, the seal remained nearly flat and did not make contact with the bottom of the slide. There was an approx. one-inch gap between the bottom of the slide and what should have been the upper edge of the seal.

I solved the problem by installing strips of right-angled plastic molding that catches the upper edge of the seal and pulls it in the upright position when the slide is opened. I fully extended the slide, held the seal in the upright position with the vertical part of the molding directly behind it, and screwed the molding into place. The vertical part of the molding should be long enough to engage the edge of the seal, but not so long as to rub the lower surface of the slide opening. In my situation, the molding cannot be attached in the roller track. Sometimes I have to do a little adjustment by hand after the slide is opened, but the seal now works as intended by making full contact with the bottom of the slide.

The slide has after-market metal plates that were installed on the bottom of the slide above the track of the rollers to correct for initial misalignment problems. The metal skin on the bottom of the slide was not substantial enough to prevent warping where it contacted the rollers without reinforcement. The plates were installed under warranty.

Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the molding that I used. However, most drywall corner bead material of the proper dimensions should work well in this application.
