Slideout and Stationary Floor Transition Area
Good afternoon,
Question for you all. Is there a filler that can be used on the floor just under the carpet? When the slides are out, the carpet dips down into the void created from the slide to the stationary floor. When sitting in the dinette chair it is very easy to drop a leg down into this void. I'm afraid it might tear a hole into the carpet. This dip in the carpet runs full length of the slide.
I've not seen a fix for this, so I'm hoping someone has an idea.
Thanks a bunch !!!!!

What year/make/model of coach? Is it a flush floor slide (slide drops down level with main floor) or raised (about 2" higher than floor)?
If a flush floor slide, I think you are missing the transition piece that mounts on the slide. If a raised slide, it may be extending too far out.

Is it the OEM floor or has it been replaced? If replaced I think Gary is right with a missing piece.

It's a 2018 Fleetwood Discovery LXE and it's a flush floor slide. It didn't seem right that there was no transition piece on it.
Thank you all for the responses. I'll contact Fleetwood.

There should be a flange on the slide that supports a flap of carpet and covers the gap.

Sounds to me the slide is going out to far.

It’s a small gap, about 1 1/2” and is made that way. It’s the beginning of the ramp the slide rollers go down to make a level floor. Move your chair leg over an inch and you won’t have a problem. If it’s really that big an issue for you, just cut a triangular wood strip to place in the gap while the slide is out.
