Another table solution

On the Discovery Owners Assoc. (DOAI) forum a member posted pictures of a replacement table he made for his 40E. He took a different approach. When traveling it appears to be about just 16" deep, but with 2 leafs it can be either 36" or 48".

If you do buy a Discovery, I'd highly recommend joining the DOAI. The forum is incredibly helpful and comprehensive (being focused solely on one model).

I joined the Disc Owners Assoc. Lots of good information on older Discoverys but almost none on newer. They are a very good social network and we are independents.

DOAI

You are correct that most of the posts on the website forum are quite old. That original forum it is little used in recent years because we've shifted to the "eGROUP" for nearly all posts--it is the first option when you click on Forums. You will need to sign up to access it.

The new forum is hosted by group.io which, when you access it online, is similar to the iRV2 forum. But I rarely go there because I chose to have all posts sent to me by email which go into a dedicated folder by themselves (warning: the volume can be intimidating, so may people opt to receive just a daily or weekly summary).

Most recent discussion has centered around rigs less than 3 or 4 years old, and there are quite a few owners in that group who post regularly. There are at least 10 owners of 2018s even.

Brian and others--

Just to give you an idea, active threads on the DOAI today included over 100 posts on a variety of topics (and I'll just cut/paste what will give you an idea of topics):
King Jack antenna on my '14 40G
2015 40E Thetford Tecma Macerating toilet
made some replacement handles for the cold & hot water drain valves
weight limits & distribution
trailer brake controller & wiring on 2006 35H
intermittent hot water in slide bathroom on 2015 40E
6v battery holder clips 2008 39R
homemade LP tank warmer used with 2011 40G
air leak 1999 37V

Discussions cover all Discoveries, of course. But it is remarkable how much continuity there is over the years. It's also remarkable how many of the people know the differences among the different years.

I've always like to read your posts here on iRV2 and look forward to seeing you on the Discovery eGroup as well! Both forums have their merits--that's why I participate on both.

We bought our Discovery in January and decided that the table was not that big an issue however it was different from our last coach. It hasn't been a problem. you can get by it by turning sideways back the aisle.

My wife has concerns about the fabric and ours is showing wear. We will probably have to start covering it with something as to protect the longevity.

THe coach rides and handles great, does not have the turning radius of our previous 38 ft Winnebago but we enjoy the coach and all the upgraded amenities.

Check with Motor Home Specialist and get a online price before buying. the price they give you online is pretty close to what you will get the coach for. many other dealers are getting higher prices but compare them to this and you will probably feel good about the deal.
