Has anyone installed a slide out pantry in their Southwind? My wife cannot reach the cans at the rear of each shelf. I have tried modifying the shelves with baskets but that just hasn't gotten the job done.

If your cabinet opening space is at least 9" wide try this url: Hardware from Hafele if not, you will have to build a set of shelves and install them with heavy full extension drawer slides mounted on the side.
There was a good photo of that on rv.net just this week.

Thanks for the response, Jerry. I was hoping that someone may have tried installing one of the slide pantry's from another Fleetwood model. Before the Southwind decided to include a cupholder, map holder for the co-pilot, I got one from a Pace Arrow and installed it myself.

Rocky,
We had the same problem with our 04 32V Southwind.
I bought one of the wire racks that mounts on walls and doors from Home Depot and mounted it on the left side inside the closet to the right of the narrow cabinet. It holds can goods and such very secure and we use the narrow cabinet for less required items.

Works for us,
Tommy & Kay

You can double(almost)the capacity of the present sliding baskets in your rig by reshaping the silly things.Note that they are tapered top to bottom. This is a waste of space and can be corrected with a pair of pliers to reshape them so that a can can be accomodated without wasted space at the edges of the basket. The sides need to be vertical.

Exrench, are you saying you have a sliding panty in your 37' Southwind? If so, perhaps I can order that directly from Fleetwood.

What passes for a sliding pantry in my 37C are 5 individual sliding baskets on HDPE slides.Three were OE and two are of my own manufacture. The baskets are 18" long and the space requirement is 7 3/8" side to side.
Some where there is an 01 Georgie Boy with an all steel sliding pantry that I welded up during a brief affair with that coach. My wife still resents leaving it with GB.FW did not leave enough width in the 37C to be worth the effort to make such a facility viable.

I know this is late but this is one time I would recommend rv.net and searching as someone posted pictures and steps doing just that in a Southwind Pantry. I wish I could recall date but try searching.

It caught my eye and only reason I remember since I have same pantry and would prefer slide out pantry.

Good luck I know its been done!

Here is what I did to our GS.

PANTRY REPLACEMENT

We had the wire basket type at first but it couldn't hold decent sized cans which are 6" dia. This new one works a lot better and uses full extension drawer slides so the rear is just around the face frame when fully extended.
