I want to install a hard wired surge protector in my 2004 Pace Arrow. Where is the transfer switch located?

Follow your shore power cord it should terminate in switch along with your load center wiring and Gen.

I have an '05 Bounder, my transfer switch is located below the closet in the bedroom. I had to remove the floor and a couple of draws to access it when I installed my surge protector.

Not sure what the TS is. I guess its a relay. What is it for, to transfer power form shore to gen or gen to shore? How to find, if I run the gen and shut it down and plug into shore power I guess I should be able to hear the relay pull. What takes precedent gen of shore? The surge protector should be wired after the TS to protect from shore and gen, but you need to be able to see it to see the LEDs. Are my assumptions correct?

Yes, the TS switches from shore to generator. You should be able to hear the relay operate when you go to generator power, it normally sits in the shore power mode. It's a normally closed relay. Yes, you wire it in after the TS so you're protected on shore and generator power. I located my surge protector in a cabinet where my washer/dryer was and the display is located there as well.

Many people do not wire the surge protector/line monitor after the transfer switch - the generator is a single, known, source of good power, so protection from it is not a strong need. If you used an external device, it would be the same - no protection form generator failures. But you know the genset is wired right and you know it produced good voltage, unless it has an internal failure.

The generator has priority - the TS always switches to generator if it is on and producing power.
