Have an oncoach surge system which has worked very well couple of times (the camp power DID have problems), have purchased a Honda 2kw to keep the low power needs off the onan set (less hours) but the oncoach system shuts down with a fault code of grd (improper ground) I used a 50 amp inline protector as a test and after about 8 min. it coupled up with out setting off the oncoach system, not too interested in adding the inline unit as I like the one we have.
anyone been down this road ????? 05 American Tridition

I have an 04 Tradition with the same ESP power line monitor. It is very fussy about open ground or any voltage on the ground. Have you checked the Honda's receptacle by itself to make sure it is indeed a valid ground?

To be a bit more accurate, I used to have the same ESP. Mine failed and I replaced it with a different Surge Guard model, the #40250

Thanks for the input, I have confirmed the ground screw on the Honda to coach, with no change in the problem, I like the ESP (it's simple) if I must I'll go with an inline unit and only use it with the Honda, but will confirm the ground at the recp. on the Honda, thanks again. Monte
