My 2006 Discovery 39S left rear tail light lens is filling with water. I'm trying to get the 2 screws that hold the lens in place off. I've tried and allen wrench as well as a tork wrench and neither fit.

Does anyone know what tool I should be using to remove lens?

Thanks for your assistance.

Mike, I had to drill out the screws on mine due to corrosion. Why they don't use a SS screw is beyond me. Mine was a phillips. I guess whoever was low bidder that week.

Mike,

Mine look like some sort of Torx screw but it has 8 points not the typical 6. Might be some tamper proof screw of some sort.

I guess I'm going to have to call Fleetwood Monday to find out what the heck they are so I can get it off. I would prefer not to have to drill them out if possible.

Thanks for your comments.

You may have been introduced to the Philips SQUARE screw. The screw looks very much like a Philips screw. The standard Philips screwdriver will slip and damage the screw.Look for a driver bit designated #2 Ph SQ. at Lowes. In all probability if you ask the tool dept.staff for the above, they will give you a blank look! When you find it it will have a definate square section in the centre of the bit.Good luck!

If it is like the ones on my American tradition, a #2 Roberts (square drive) bit will fit it. Not perfect, but it works. I've got those funny screw heads all over, mostly on access panels for water pump and other plumbing. They are used on the dash too.
