We have dual sensors for our zoned heat/air system. One works fine, the other senses the temperature from the thermostat and not the remote sensor. I called Fleetwood, they agreed that that sensor is either not working or wired incorrectly. The thermostat is located in a small hot overhead cabinet. The only way I can get it to shut off...other than constantly changing the set point of the thermostat, is to set a fan to blow cool air on it. Any suggestions as to a fix would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Cat320,

How hard would it be to move the thermostat and wiring to the wall next to or under the cabinet?

Steve

The thermostat is easy to get to (under a cabinet) and I've had the cover off. The wire is there, which is about all I can tell. The Fleetwood tech said the other end of the wire goes in back of the AC distribution panel and that it would have to be removed. Don't know if I want to go messing with the dist panel...plus we are in a CG and need the AC...it's pushing 100 degrees.

Not sure why the other end of the sensor wire goes to the AC distribution panel? It should go to the thermostat. And if you want to relocate the sensor you just have to relocate the end of the wire the sensor is connected.

What logic were they thinking putting sensor in a cabinet I have one one a kitchen cabinet and one on they bedroom wall. How could it ever shut off with no air circulation?

The sensor is not in the cabinet...please reread my initial post...and you are correct, it never shuts off.

I suggest switching the two sensors to see if the problem follows the sensor. The sensors may lead to a board in one of the AC's and then down to the thermostat. There is a procedure for telling the thermostat what sensor to use. See if you have the original manuals or download fresh if possible and check the installation section.

I had a similar issue where my T Stat was located in a chase that went down to the floor. My heat ducts in the floor would get so hot that the heat went up the chase and the T Stat would never turn the heat on. I pulled out all of my drawers under the kitchen countertop which gave me good access to all of the floor ducts. I insulated the heck out of the ducts and duct taped the seams. I also stuffed the wire chase where the T Stat is located with insulation. That took care of my issue.

My bad, there have been post about sensors being back inside the cabinet. Have you taken the sensor cover off and looked behind it? Just a simple check.

I have removed the sensor from under the cabinet. I can't swap it with the one that works correctly because it is all one assembly.

We had the same problem on our 2010 Fleetwood Fiesta we have gone round and round with them on this issue and it turns out that the thermister was not wired correctly and it had to be replaced, the tech finally fixed it we think and now all is working fine. My thought for you would be to have someone check it out for you it may just need a new one. It is a fairly easy fix if that is your problem.

remove cover and pull the censor wire through cover so it is hanging out like someone pulling a tongue at you. Worked for us.

If it is using the sensor built into the-stat rather than the remote, the t-stat is programmed incorrectly and needs re-configured to use the remote. At thevery worst you need to repalce the remote, but i would not conclude that until you get the t-stat trying to work of that rather than its internal sensor.

I think you are correct in that the sensor needs to be replaced. The thermostat is really a misnomer, since nothing should be "sensed" there. It is just a box that controls the two remote sensors that send temp info to it. As I said earlier, it is located on a small closed wall cabinet that has been over 100 degrees when the sun is on that side of the coach. No way could it ever work correctly as a sensor.
