Hi, I am totally uneducated in the workings of an RV and we have just purchased a Fleetwood Providence. So please can some kind person tell me HOW (step by step) to operate the slideouts. We did not get the manuals with the RV. I have managed to find a few online, but the slideout manual site at "powergearus.com" has an error. We have tried all we know and the slideouts refuse to budge, so either there is a step in the process we are omitting, or it may be broken (although the slideouts were out when we initially viewed the RV). However, it is difficult to know how to proceed as we need to now if we are doing everything right first. Hence the need for step by step operations! Thank you so much in advance for your kind help!

Welcome to IRV2. I can' t help you but I' m sure someone will. It would be helpful if you mentioned the year of your MH. Also you may want to start a thread in the Fleetwood part of the forum as many FW owners follow that one. Good luck. Also no question is silly.

Hi and welcome to your new life.
Is there safety bars on your slide outs to prevent accidental movement while traveling?

Hi and

I'm going to move your thread over to the Fleetwood Owners Forum where you'll get more hits from owners of similar coaches.

Best of luck...

Rick

Hi, thank you so much for your reply, I am not sure not sure if it has safety bars? Where would they be and what would they look like?

I have a 03 Fleetwood and there are a few steps you need to check before beginning:

1. Make sure the tranny is in neutral, parking break applied, and slide out key turned to on. I don't believe your model has slide locks like Aguyfromcalg.

2. Level your coach if it is sloped severely front to back or left to right. It can be out of level somewhat. But best if leveled.

3. If house batteries (not starting batteries) are good, it should move the slide out when you push the "out" button. However, if you have electric motor(s) which I suspect you do, and the batteries are not working properly, you should plug into shore power or run the genny.

4. Check the fuse/breaker panel. My fuse boxes are under my steps and the breaker box is on the bedroom matress box.

Someone else may think of something that may help too.

Brakes set, trans in nuetral, MH level, best to leave engine running for hotter power. By the time you get all slides out you will use a lot of power otherwise.

Make sure the slides can't hit anything when they do come out.

Hi, thank you so much for your comprehensive answer, it was exactly the kind of instruction I was looking for. Done all the mentioned, and still no luck, but we can only find a slideout button that you flick down for open and up for close. I do not see, or know of, a place to turn the slideout on with a key as well? Do you know where we should look for this? There are keys on the key ring we have yet to figure out what they do, so that could very well be our problem Thank you again!

Have you called Fleetwood to see what manuals they may have available for your coach yet?
