Towing

Hi I am the new owner of a 30 foot Storm with the Ford V10. I am trying to decide the best mode of towing. I have a Toyota Prius that cannot be towed as a toad weighing 2500 pounds. I would also like to take my 800 pound Harley. I cant get a straight answer on whether I can tow a enclosed 20 foot trailer or go to a Tandem Tow dolly. Somebody just suggested a Motorcycle Lift for the back of the Motor Home with a car dolly. Anybody have a suggestion or experience with this. Thank you

You need to determine the weight you can tow...

Tow rating is the lower of:

1. Coach's hitch rating.

2. Coach tow rating.

3. Chassis tow rating (sometimes different than the coach's).

4. The difference in weight between the coach's GCWR and the coach's actual weight when ready to tow.

Most that I have checked on say you can't underload the RV to tow more. The most you can tow is the max rating by the RV manufacturer.

2,500 lbs car plus a 20 ft enclosed trailer approx 3,500 lbs = 6,000 lbs plus 800 lbs motorcycle on a 5,000 lbs hitch might not be a good idea. A 800lb motorcycle plus the weight of the lift on the back might not be a good idea on the storm.
