During a recent encounter with a low tree branch, my Winegard batwing antenna was destroyed. I purchased a new unit but found that the tv cable has broken from a splice somewhere inside the roof of the RV. I've looked high and low to see if I can see the end of it or even to see where is might be coming from but no luck. Any ideas on how I might be able to find the end and resplice into it or to run a new cable from the roof to the amp?

Thanks

Marco

You will never be able to get to the end of that cable in the roof. I have tried many times in the past and it is tied into the coaches wiring harness so there's no movement possible. Unless you can get your ceiling trim down and hope the wiring is just behind it you are going to have to run a new cable.
This is generally pretty easy if the amp is in the front cabinet or somewhere directly under the cap. You will need to have some Dicor or other Lap Sealant caulk and a cover place. Drill the hole larger than necessary so you don't crimp the cable when you seal it up.

Bill,
You were on the money. After removing everything that I could to get a peek behind the walls, I finally spotted the cable after removing a stereo speaker. The cable was tied into wiring harness' in several places.

The speaker hole was very tight and difficult to work through. I almost gave up and planned to just run a cable over the top and though the cap as you described. After fighting through the foam insulation, I caught a break and finally managed to run a new cable up to the roof. Glad thats over. Thanks for the input.
