Hubby and I are looking at a 2002 Pace Arrow 35G...42,000 miles on it...immaculate condition! This would be our first motorhome, and buying used is a bit scary! The dealership will go through the unit and make sure everything is in "good working order", but is there anything beyond what they may do that we should check out before purchasing? Any "inherant" problems that these units had? Any help and suggestions will be much appreciated. We don't want a big, horribly expensive "surprise" over something we missed!

On an "immaculate.." rig with four years and 40,000 miles use all the bugs should be worked out. I've purchased older used rigs with much higher milage and they have run out just fine. Best advice I can give is a long test drive and a good long pre-deliver inspection; inside, outside, topside and underside. Many folks are also partial to the coach being mounted on the Workhorse vice the Ford chasis.
The Pace Arrow is a top of the line coach and should give you years (miles) of enjoyment; and given the current market--the price should be right!

The dealer may be able to get a service record on the unit of any work done under warranty. That may tell you if there were any major problems during warranty. Not sure but you could inquire using vin# to see if there are any recalls that have not been done. I would also ask them to contact previous owner and see if they will talk to you about the unit. If you buy, Be sure to take your time on walk through and inspect everything make them turn it on and you see it work. You can search here using key words, pdi, walk through etc.. and find good info. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the good advise! And guess what? We signed the papers on the unit today, and take delivery next weekend! First, took it for a nice, long spin, and then checked out everything. Dealer has a small list that will be taken care of before next weekend. Going to fix a couple of small windshield "dings", and putting new tires all around for us. While they have it on lift for the tires, we'll have them put on new shocks also. Sure does need those! Dealer had maintenance records on it, and nothing worrisome showed up. We're so excited to get it out for the first time!
