I can't be the only person who purchased a Fleetwood (Pace Arrow,07,38P)with a vacuum toilet. The whole camp ground knows when I flush the toilet!!! Wife says its got to go!

Never heard of it. Where does the vacuum come from? i.e., how does it work?

Bob, There is a vacuum pump which sucks the waste from the toilet and them pumps the waste into the holding tank. I can see where these toilets would be useful in a boat but not in an RV. The toilet is not positioned where the waste cannot gravity feed into the tank as it does on a NORMAL toilet. When you flush the toilet the vacuum pump, pumps for about 10 seconds afterward pulling a new vacuum on the toilet. This pumping noise can be heard within a 60 foot radius. Everyone knows when someone in my home uses the toilet. Then the added factor of having to maintain a vacuum pump system, something else to go wrong.

We have the two headed 40E Revolution. The rear toilet is vacuum operated because the rear throne is not immediately above the black tank. The sound of our vacuum pump and actual flushing is certainly just as noisy as yours and it doesn't bother us, or our neighbours at all. It really is not a noisy as most water pumps. It might sound quite noisy when you are trying to sneek your bodily functions but it probably is not noticable outside. We prefer it to the front toilet which is more like an outhouse than a home toilet.

Jack, I suppose it is easier for me to get use to the noise, but my wife knows that everyone around us also knows when the toilet is used. I have had mine stop-up once already and I had to use a plumbers helper to un-plug the plug. I hate to think about the trouble when the vacuum pump needs maintenance!!!

We have just about the same as you, but ours is the 07 Bounder 38P. It is quite an experience the first time during the night. We are now use to it, but it has taken all summer. The dealer explained to me that our holding tank like Jack said is not directly below the toilet. With Our floorplan the holding tank is somewhere under the kitchen floor. I have never noticed the noise when someone was in and I was out. The only time it bothers anyone is during the night when everyone is sleeping.

Peeta, I suppose we will have to learn to live with it. I just pray for the patience when it comes to repairing it. Enjoy your coach.
