Water pump keeps running
Water pump keeps running and moves water to grey tank. Checked all valves, icemaker, water heater, toilet, sinks and shower. No water is coming out of normal areas. No apparent leaks anywhere. No water spilling onto ground. Yet, pump keeps running and water somehow gets into grey tank.
We're at an RV park with city water hooked up to RV. It's on and regulated to 24-26 psi. Pump has been turned on during last 4 days as well. Could this be part of the problem? Are we supposed to either use the pump, or city water pressure, but not both?
What's going on, and what's the fix?
Thanks.

If I turn my pump on with low water pressure, the RV will use water from the fresh water tank and not from the city water. When connected to city water, I adjust my pressure to 50 pounds and leave the pump off.

kgarvey,
That sometimes happens to us and it is caused when the bypass lever in the utility bay is not fully moved to the shore position. This lever is what we use to fill our fresh water holding tank from the shore water connection vs the direct fill on the side of the MH. It 'sucks' air in so the pump does not build up enough water pressure which would normally turn it off.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I wracked my brain trying to figure out how the water would be pumped from the fresh tank directly to the grey holding tank, and the only component I could think of was that same bypass valve. I fiddled around with it, and whatever I did fixed the issue. My valve handle goes down to shut off water fill function, but the handle goes a bit beyond 90 degrees. When I centered it at 90 degrees, the issue is resolved. Curious, but fixed. For now, anyway.

You may still have an issue. I don't see how the bypass valve position can cause water to be pumped into the gray water tank. That would be somehow connecting the fresh supply to the gray tank.
I do, however, see how the bypass valve could affect water pressure.
The bypass valve in my Bounder has funny hard stop positions. They go past the normal 90 degree positions. And it is not just that the valve is rotated. It has over 90 degrees of travel but much less than 180. I am pretty sure I need to leave the valve either at 12:00 position for bypass to fresh tank fill or at 3:00 position for normal operation.

Might be overflow from fresh to grey, but that would typically be gravity flow, no pump needed, although again yuck. My overflow would hit the ground, just clean water. You can also just pull the wire on the pump if the off switch stops working, it pops in and out fairly easy. I had to replace switch last year and just pulled wire as pump ran everytime I used anything, but I was connected to citywater
