I'm getting ready to wash & wax my Bounder for the first time. I looked for some opinions on waxes and I came up with one that surprised me very much.

I found hundreds of postings about a FLOOR wax named Red Max 3, complete with pictures of before & after and I have to say it looks pretty darn good. The stuff is cheap at about $15 a gallon, is immune to UV, helps decals stick and not curl, and lasts for a year after which a single refreshed coat makes it as good as new. Some claim that it's the same as an expensive product - 'Poly-Glow'. It is a total pain to put on the first time though.

So here's the question: Has anyone with a Bounder used this stuff and what were your results?

Other opinions welcomed too.

Thanks,
Russ

What year bounder do you have and what is the conditon of the surface? Most of the posts I've seen on using Red Max floor wax is on units where there has been some uv damage already, chalking, where a normal application of auto wax provides less than desired results.

When it gets a bit cooler outside I plan on using floor wax on the endcaps of my 2001 but still use auto wax on the sides as they are still in good shape.

It's a 2006 and it looks really good. I suspect it's spent most of it's life under a cover.

Our previous RV, a Keystone product, had decals that were cracking, fading and peeling and ther gel coat was starting to oxidize. Every time I washed it I would find bits of decals in the rinse water and they were getting smaller and smaller all the time.

I don't want that to happen to my Bounder.

I thought it was $15 a gallon. Not so! It's $15 for 2 gallons! On the Lowes site the only reviews for this product are from folks who have used it on RVs.

With a floor wax like Red Max 3, you would not have to buff it out right? How do you apply it correctly?

If you Google/Bing/Yahoo 'Red Max Pro 3' like I did you'll find several hundred posts in various RV groups about how it's applied.

Cheers!

I have an '05 Bounder that has always been stored outside, not under a cover. I have only used Blue Coral car wash on it and the finish still looks brand new.

I used it on my '88 and it was like night and day. Wipe on, let dry, wipe on coat #2, let dry,...Four coats seems to be the magic number.

For $15 a gallon, it simply can't be beat. No buffing. No rubbing. Wipe on with a sponge.

Don't let it run, and wear gloves unless you like the look of clear fingernail polish.

I just finished coating my 95 Bounder with Red Max Pro. It's NOT a wax but a acrylic polymer coating.
