Weight limitations for slide storage
Getting ready to load out our 32VS for an extended trip (a couple of years). Some where I heard about some weight limitations for the slide storage. Can't find it anywhere though. Seems rational to me not to load it with all the heavy stuff, but then again I want to even the left to right weight as close as possible. I will be getting it weighed on all four corners in late April and should have the full load in it. Any thoughts?

I had called FW on this and they told me 150 lbs as I recall. You can verify that with them. 800-322-8216.
Please let us know if you call them.

When I moved into my 2005 Bounder 32W while on the dealers lot the streetside slide wouldn't retract. First question from the dealer was "how much weight in the slide". I hadn't thought about weight as I was just happy to have the storage compartments easily accessable with the slide extended. 300# was the dealer's answer but I think #150 is closer to being correct. After shifting weigh to the other side the slide grunted but retracted. Some have changed to a stronger motor but IMHO don't think this is good idea. Good luck.

Called Fleetwood
Fleetwood customer service looked it up and came up with 300 lbs for every 6 square foot of storage spread out evenly. I have 18 square foot of storage in the slide. That comes to about 900 lbs. Looks like a little more investigation is required. This wasn't unit specific just fleetwood slides in general.

I was thinking I read 300 pounds someplace in our documentation. I'll have to look through some stuff to see if I'm dreaming. Our biggest concern is loaded ice chests; gotta keep those adult beverages at optimum temp. (We are not full timers.)

Weight limit is easy to calculate! Load it till it won't move then subtract 10%.
Works just like "Tru-Torgue" for bolts, tighten till the head snaps off then back off a quarter turn.
Just kidding folks.

Good to know I'm not the only one who uses this technique.

I miss read the op. Sorry. I thought you were asking about each compartment. All slides are different. Personally , with an approx. 17' slide that includes the Norcold , I limit the stuff I store in the basement and under the sofa. It seems sluggish enough without me adding too much weight. I try to put heavier stuff in compartments that don't slide.

I have a full wall slide on my 33U, I'd be interested in knowing if there were a standard weight per square foot of storage...300# per 6sqft seems a little much to me.

I sent Fleetwood an email and asked if there was a standard. I should receive an answer in a day or two.

John,
I'm interested in this also. Although we have never had a problem, it would be good to know if we're tempting fate.

Fleetwood's Bryan Gaughan has stated that the weight limitation for my 2010 Fleetwood Bounder 33U full wall slide is 300# over 6 square feet. This seems to be the standard for slides...
