What type of fastener is this
I want to adjust the strikers on a couple of my basement doors and they are secured with a fastener that I can't identify. Its not a standard star type fastener. Can anyone give me an idea of what type of fastener this is and where I might find one?
Thanks in advance

#2 drive 8 point?
You'll find them on enclosed trailers a lot.
A #2 square bit will fit, but won't transfer much torque. (I think that's what's in the picture above.)

Thanks Tim... I see that a torx style bit is different than an 8 point bit. Is that correct?

Just to hazard a guess it looks like a Torx 20 or 25.

Looks like a "Double Square"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...#Double-square
Very common in trailer builds. A Robertson drive (single square) "should" work.
Torx has 6 points and will not fit.
best luck

If your unable to find a proper fitting Torx try a square drive. My tail lights are secured with what I thought where torx but I was unable to find one that would fit! I then tried a square drive and it fit!
Very frustrating! LOL

Any big box home center will have them, they are used for decks. Torx 20 or 25

Been there with mine as well, so I think the double-square is the answer - Fleetwood and American Coach (ARG RV assembly plant) use them in many places. A standard #2 Roberts (square) bit is what is needed.

It is indeed a double square and the main purpose is to make it easier for a square drive to engage. Cannot tell the scale of the screw but it should take one of the standard square drive inserts.
