Although a minor point, how can I tell if my chassis is a K2 or K3?

Thanks.

Naturally, I have the VIN...don't see where it says which chassis I have.

Hi hooverbill,
I think you have a Spartan Mountain Master GT chassis. Go to 2009 American Coach American Allegiance 40X for sale | Concord, NC and take a look at this coach specs.

You have neither the K-2 or K-3. The 2009 Allegiance, as with all newer American Coach's including today's line-up, are built on the "Liberty Chassis". In reality, all American Coach's under 45 foot are built on the Spartan Mountain Master that is spruced up and called the Liberty Chassis. The K-2 and K-3 series are for the big boys, they will have the bigger frame, engine, transmission, cooling packages, brakes, etc..

Thanks for the information.

I was reading in the Spartan manual, on page 3-23, where it says there are three types of chassis...K2, K3 (both Ind Fr Susp) and MM and NVS, (whatever they are) but, since the latter are I Beam Fr Susp, I ruled them out. No where is a "Liberty Chassis" mentioned.

Having said that, I went through my brochure again...it DOES say my unit has a "Liberty Chassis w/E-Coated Platform."

So, I guess the bottom line is that section of the manual does not pertain to my rig.

You can have a mountain master with IFS, my Newmar does. If it's a K-2 K-3 it will have a Cummins ISM or ISX. If it has a cummins ISL or ISC then it is most likely a mountain master. I think the mountain master GT is the one with IFS but not sure.
