I am interested in why I should buy a Fleetwood over other motor homes.

I guess the question could be why not? I have owned 2 other brands now a fleetwood you decide gas or diesel which chassis what floor plan. There are minor bugs in all brands.

More important is the quality of the dealer! IMO!
All brands can have lemons.
How you make lemonade is dependent on the cooperation of the dealer! IMO!!

I have owned a Winnebago and new a Newmar, as well as various campers and fifth wheels, they will ALL have initial problems / issues. Shouldn't be, but just is the way it is. I have heard from repair guys (relatives in the RV repair business) "oh stay away from Fleetwood", but in all fairness, Fleetwood puts more coach's on the road than anyone else, just by percentages they're bound to have more individuals with problems. But I also know people that have Fleetwoods that love them, and have had no problems. As I said, I've had a Winnebago and a Newmar, both supposed to be real good, I've had my share of issues with both. I think the key is to find the layout, options, etc... that really make you happy, and get it, whatever brand it may be. Good luck, and happy RV'ing!
Alan

I would go with floor plan, chassis specs, and dealer over brand as a starting point.

I'm with Becky on this one. Figure out what you want in a motorhome & then find the manufacturer(s) that have units that meet those criteria. You'll pigeon-hole yourself if you concentrate on just 1 manufacturer.

Now, if you posted in this Forum because you meant to ask us Fleetwood rv owners why we bought a Fleetwood product over another manufacturer's product, that's a whole different question that members will be happy to answer. Then you can take our opinions into consideration when you do your shopping.

Go to all the shows and dealers you can get to and wear some good shoes. Don't listen to a word the salesmen say, just look, sit and make yourself comfortable in every area, including the toilet and shower. If you have owned or operated other RVs, you should know what you like and dislike. Once you find a floorplan, start shopping for your new unit and don't accept one that is close unless the price is right and you are willing to live with it.

We love our Bounder and will return to the Fleetwood family when we need a replacement.

Find the style of coach that suits you and then buy the better model from that manufacturer.

We love our American Tradition and especially the outstanding customer support and factory service. However, AC operates its support and service completely separate from the rest of Fleetwood, so it does reflect company-wide procedures and policies.

I think the Excursion and the Revolution are one heck of a coach too, but it all depends on what you are looking for.

After owning a 1990 Bounder for several years and with very few problems for its age. I thought it was a pretty good bang for the buck. My wife and I started looking and looking at them all. I still felt as what I said above.
We just purchased a 2005 Southwind 37C a step up from the Bounder.
Still think they make a nice coach and you get your monies worth, no matter which one you buy!

Regards,
RovinOn..........

Why buy Fleetwood:
The power platform chassie before the purchase have salesman level coach
When coach is leveling feel the coach twist and squeak .The power platform chassie
is so solid compared to some others you can imagine what five hunderd cycles will do
to the coach.
Look at some of the cabinets etc.above average quality.
The basement area is well supported due to power platform.
Some of the little fit and finish is just so so .But the engineering and torisional ridgidy
of this platform will give years of life to the coaches structure.

We brought our Fleetwood, even knowing they were having some financial issues. Fleetwood is a good brand, they've been around 59 years...and they make a good product. We have had ours since January 09, have taken it out every single weekend. You can probably make a good deal on one, but make sure you purchase an extended service plan from Good Sam, or one of the other clubs. If Fleetwood doesn't make it out of Chapter 11, you may need it. We haven't even been back to the dealer for a "tweak". We're very happy with our Fiesta LX and have never had a days regret with it! But very sad for Fleetwood right now.
