Follow-up to missing antifreeze

I checked my panel in the MH today and the fresh water tank is empty. The missing antifreeze must be hiding out in the hot water heater. I will be emptying the tank later this week when it warms up. I checked the bypass valve and yes, it is/was in the bypass position. Must be a bad valve or possible didn't have it fully engaged. I will do some testing with water to see if it's the valve or maybe I didn't have it fully closed.

My water heater bypass doesn't work. Plumbed incorrectly.

Is the hose in the bay that is connected to the filter going to the freshwater tank or to the individual faucets? It sounds like it’s going to the freshwater tank.
Please let us know the final answer.

Use air to check it if you have the means.

Set your washing machine for "warm" and not hot, so that both cold and hot input lines fill with pink stuff.

I wouldn't suggest that unless you are blowing the lines out first w/an air compressor. In our case, the hot water line is longer than the cold getting back to the washer. If set on Warm, the AF in the cold line would get to the drum before the hot & there's a chance the hot line wouldn't get completely winterized. I always do the hot & cold separately on my washer so there's no chance of not being completely filled with AF, even though we blow out the lines first anyway.

Hmmm, it's been over 2 weeks since the OP reported this missing antifreeze. Wonder if they found it yet? Inquiring minds want to know.

The bypass is working but I can hear water pouring into my WH when the city water is turned on. I believe it’s a plumbing issue. It’s at the dealer now being fixed. I will report back when it’s fixed and the real culprit known.

Stuck Check valve

The culprit was a stuck check valve. Glad this was the problem because had it been plumed wrong, previous owners would have been filling the HW tank with antifreeze which can damage the aluminum HW tank. Never put the pink fluid in an aluminum tank, it attacks the coating on the tank and will soon cause leaks per dometic.

I'm a little confused here. You have mentioned the bypass valve (singular) at least twice. In our current coach, and in our last TT as well as our old Class C, there were TWO bypass valves. One on the inlet side of the WH and one on the outlet side of the WH. If you don't change BOTH valves to "bypass", the antifreeze can flow into the WH from either the inlet side or the outlet side . . . . Am I missing something here?
