Wind noise
I have a 1997 Fleetwood Discovery (37 foot) which I love very much! We have done some 'fixes' that has made it more of 'our' coach and we really enjoy traveling in it. The one problem that we haven't been able to fix/correct is the 'wind' noise that comes from the wind going between the coach and the support for the awning that comes out over the door and runs along the side. For quite some time we weren't sure what was making the noise but I think that we have narrowed it down to the above reason. I would really appreciate any help that someone can give us... It really makes talking difficult and listening to music or a book about impossible. I have posted questions before and have always been very pleased with all the help and response from fellow Fleetwood owners. Thanks for your help, in advance!!

We used to have a '99 discovery and had the same wind noise from the awning post. Have read reports of people making a cover for the front awning leg and they reported success. Would try with some scrap material and tape to see if that would help.
Our Phaeton is whisper quiet!

Some noise on other MHs are the drain holes at the bottom of the side windows and the tubes for the grill. As noted above, try reshaping portions of your awning with metal, cardboard or tape until you eliminate the noise. Trial and error is going to be the best option. Good luck

Unless you are certain it is the awning, the window weep holes are usually the culprit. Try taping over all of the weep holes in the cab area windows and door. Friction tape works well. Drive the coach and see if that cures the problem. If so, order plastic weep hole covers that snap into the weep holes. They come in different sizes and in a left or right configuation (driver/passanger sides). A word of caution, do not consider the friction tape test a "fix". The weep holes need to remain open to function properly.

If you go the the DOAI website and search for wind noise, you will probably find the answer. i don't remember anymore, but there is a "fix" (supplied by Fleetwood i think) for the wind noie you are describing. It is the awning support and was a common problem on these coaches.

Is that support arm FIXED or does it move when the awning is extended?
If it's fixed and there is a gap, say 1/2 to 1 inch, between it and the body of the coach you could try stuffing.
you get Stuffing at the dollar store for a buck a piece, Called FUN noodles this is a foam plastic tube You see them used as floaties in pools.. You can cut it with a sharp (Exacto or other razor sharp) knife or with sizzors though the knife works best. Cut a piece at least half again thick as the slot and force it in (Friction will have to hold it for the first trip at least) you can add additional security to it later.

I siliconed the front side windows weep holes (2) but felt about a 1/16" hole still in the front ones only. No noise, water drains out.

We tried looking for the weep holes that you are describing and couldn't find them... Are you talking about holes in the gutter above each window?? If so, we didn't see any weep holes but we will look harder for them. Thanks for your input!

We can't wait to try your idea of the 'fun noodles' to take care of our noise problem. Afraid we will have to wait until warmer weather when they start selling pool supplies as we are in 9" of snow right now. Thanks so much for your input!!
