Greetings from a Newbee,
I have a 1993 U300 Grand Villa.
Has anyone installed Winegard digital converter boxes in these older Foretravels?
There is a small video control switch in the overhead cabinet behind the driver's head. There is also a three switch video control panel by the bedroom TV. The larger having nine small wires and the smaller having four small wires leading away in harnesses.
They must go to a coax switcher somewhere.
That's the key... Does anyone know where this coax switcher is located?

Also I have been trying to pull the large TV out of the cabinet below the center of the dash. I was going to disconnect the coax in the back of the TV...Wrong, it won't budge. I removed the small wooden trim across the top of the screen. This seemed to do nothing.

Thanks for the help,
Newbee

I have a '91 U300 SAI (side isle) and have just completed the digital change over. I will reply with what what I know on mine - I believe they are very similar:

The front TV on my coach does slide out once that top trim piece of wood (held in with 3 screws) is removed but it difficult to get a good grip on the TV to pull. There might be an shallow edge that you need to lift the TV over.

The master control switch for the Winegard controller is located under the closet floor. I had to remove the carpet and unscrew a panel.

That said, installing the Digital converted did not involve getting to the controller. I ended up installing two Digital converters. One for each TV. I figured this would be best since these digital converters are really "temporary" until the TV gets replaced sometime later with a new TV (with a digital tuner already built-in).

For the rear TV (where the VCR is) I install the digital converter (wiring wise) just before VCR. I created a space where it could sit and "see" the remote (since it does all channel changing now). The selector switch for this TV is always on "VCR" when I watch Digital TV - my VCR passes the signal whether it's "on" or "off". Both the VCR and TV are always on ch 3 now when watching digital TV. I can still watch analog by switching to "antenna" on the selector control for either the "TV" or "RECORDER". Having a digital converter with "analog passthru" provides the most flexibility in that way.

The forward TV Digital convert is installed just like any TV at home - wired in just before it goes into the TV. Finding a mounting location for the box is much hard. For now, it just sits on edge outside of the cabinet. Again, it needs to be able "see" the remote. To watch old "analog" on the front TV the digital converter needs to have analog pass thru.

Hope this helps
