Fresh water tank

After sitting for almost a year in NAC getting repaired, we will need to sanitize the fresh water tank and the water lines in the coach. I am thinking it is 1/4 cup per 20 gallons of water ,but I might be wrong. Run the taps inside the coach until bleach smell, then let set over night. Drain and refill tank with fresh water, run taps again till bleach smell is faint.
Am I close?

Sounds close. The clorox web site gives the proportions. That is what I go to.

Be sure and remove all filters both whole house and ice-maker before adding the bleach

Lady p,
I prefer Potassium permanganate as it is better for your body than bleach is if some is left in your domestic water system. In fact this is used to in water treatment for years. Lot easer to handle than bleach but use what makes you happy. Your bleach formula should work fine as you have stated.

I had an old bottle of bleach and it had no smell. So I bought a new one, guess what, no smell either. Most stores appear to carry the new “smell free” bleach which doesn’t help much when trying to determine if you have the bleach water in your water lines.

Next time I sanitize the system I’ll look for the traditional bleach.

You could ask to use a pool test kit strip and if extremely high, continue to flush. Tap water has less than 5PPM

Bleach looses potency quickly so don't use any that has been sitting around.
