Why Foretravel?

I have been looking at a Foretravel on the net and would like opinions from the owners forum. The coach is a 38ft. 2007 Nimbus. What is the advantages of the Foretravel brand, construction etc. that make it so liked? Thanks Sam

Sam:
IMHO:
Foretravel has been in business for 40+ years. The investor group that purchased the company from the Fore family has brought the product up-to-date while retaining the traditional Foretravel virtues: 1) Foretravel chassis 2) six position Allison transmission retarder 3) quality build. Production has been limited in recent years to 50-100 coaches. So, Foretravels are not built in a hurry. The factory provides service and support for old and new. Plus, tech help is a phone call away. The Yahoo Foretravel Group also provides help and a sense of community. Negatives 1) Nimbus’s do not have IFS and thus have a wide turning radius (may not be a problem in a 38ft coach). 2) Limited dealers and service across the USA 3) Floor plans without kitchen counter space (for me).

If you want to get a good feel for the coach and the people, stop by the factory for a tour. It is located in Nacogdoches, Texas which is about 2 hours NE of Houston. Nacogdoches is a great town to visit...lots of history ther and a great acoustical instrument shop on the square.

I agree with all the other post. I am on my third Foretravel. They are built one at a time for a person usually. They have 70 percent of their sales to repeat purchasers. The construction and woodwork can not be beat. There are fancier coaches but not better built. I will say that Newell is the exception to this. If you want to be technical but they cost 50percent more. I have driven my Foretravels over 300K miles and they are still as sound and solid and squeek free as the day they were made. They are semi monoque chassis and the older none slide units are a full Monoque chassis. I have seen one that was rolled down a 100 foot hill and it could still be driven to the factory. Now that is strong. They are still in business today so that says something too.
