I just purchased a 1994 scenic cruiser pusher with a 5.9 cummings. And so far other than a few issues I love it. Spartan Chasis 60k miles. so here is my delima when i was driving it back in 100 + weather it was getting up to 220 engine temp so i would back off and eventually it would go to 190 so we looked around a found tha fan was damaged so we found a new fan plastic and installed it pulled all radiators etc. it did help only gets around 215 but still fluctuates alot but this usually happens in town and climbing hills I added som water wetter which seemed to help some but what am i doing wrong I want to pull a trailer but i am affraid it will get hot more frenquently. Can i mount a electric fan on the out side to pull more air?
thank you

skidworth, welcome to iRV2.com and to the Gulf Stream Owners forum. We are glad to have you join us here and we look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. I am sure you have cleaned the radiator itself, so let me ask you do you have a side radiator or rear?

It is a rear and has been cleaned and flushed and new anitfreeze added. the new fan is bigger and plastic compared to the stock and does work better than before maybe i just need to keep it at 1900-2000 rpm I really dont know.

If you have a transmission cooler near the radiator you might want to also be sure that the transmission is in good shape maintenance wise. Keep the rpms up when ascending grades to help keep things flowing.

A misting system certainly will help reduce the temperature. Go for it!
