Is this a new problem , on an RV you've had for a while or are you brand new to RVing.
Can you find a brand name on the water heater?
Are you trying to start the propane side or the electric side?
Was the RV winterized ?

If it's a propane and not an AquaHot, be sure there's water in the heater before you start it.

Your water heater may be bypassed. Look in the water bay for a lever that says heater bypass. Move valve lever to proper position.

Water Tank

This is a new RV to us. First time out. We had it checked with dealer before we left they flushed tank, changed rod and said it was fine. We have the switch by the door on, the switch by the stove on but the pilot keeps turning off according to light at stove

I haven't had a water heater with a pilot light in years. This one appears to be like most and have an electronic ignition so there would be no pilot. You talk about two switches. My guess is that one is for the gas side and the other is for the 120vac electric element. The 120vac obviously won't work unless you have shore power or a generator. The other side needs propane to sustain ignition. Is your propane turned on? Presuming you have a propane range, does it work? If the answer to both of those is yes, the you might might have a gas valve issue at the water heater.
Can you hear the water heater trying to start? Propane heaters are quite similar to a blow torch and make a fair amount of noise.

Smile Water heater

We did hear it ignite for a few seconds then stop. We are starting to think that the thermistor might have a problem but the dealer said it was all clear before we left. I am taking it home in the morning to have it checked out. Lucky for me the campground had good showers. Thanks for the help.
