2006 Gulfstream Crescendo - 2 Questions
My wife and I have a 'new to us' 2006 Gulfstream Crescendo - when we purchased it late last year it 8, 152 miles on the motorhome. My first issue is how difficult is it to change the air filter cartridge on this Freightliner chassis and exactly where is located? Second issue is we have fog lights but I cannot seem to find the swicth to turn them on/off - any ideas? The engine in this model is a CAT C7 ACERT 300 hp with an Allison 6 speed transmission.
Just so you are aware the coach did not come with either the engine or chassis manuals - really miss having those avaiable.

Wow...Welcome to the forum...We own a 2009. And not sure how to help. The manual I have, is written in another language. I have tried to figure out what the DDP message light is and is it serious. What is Econo mode, how does the exhaust brake work, and when to use it. All questions not easily found in a book. Member "Akadeadeye", had a great idea. If there is a good service center near you, make an appointment and pay for a couple of hours of walk through time. Did you buy the coach at a dealer or a private sale? Keep asking questions, someone will have an idea or two....D

Hello Ron and Jane and also to the Gulf Stream Owners Forum. Congratulations on your Crescendo purchase. We are glad to have you join us here and we look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. I am sure you will enjoy the website and forums. Good luck, stay safe and keep us posted.
On the fog lights, try pulling the light switch knob out to activate fog lights. There is an air intake vent on the side of the coach; follow it to the air filter (under the coach if rear radiator).

Pulling out the light switch is probably the answer, however, the fog lights may still not work if the lights are in the high beam. Mine will only work when they are on low.

No info about DDP, however If you have an Allison Transmission you should find a manual in English online, just know in advance what the model is. Economode probably just delays the shifting points and will supposedly give you better mileage. I have not found that to be the case. While in econo just remember it will not stay that way should you turn the ign off you need to reset. I quite often forget!
I tend to keep my exhaust brake on at all times. I believe it may help to give the brake shoes a longer life. I used to drive an 18 wheeler for a large company that refused to order them on their equipment and if for some reason they did acquire one that had that feature the mechanics were always instructed to disable them. They felt the brake cause unnecessary repairs and shortened the life of the engine.

Hi and welcome. I have a 2004 Crescendo. I really like it! The econo mode does make the shifting different and I always turn it on. When the headlights are on and I pull out on the switch, the driving lights come on. I have only had it since Sept and am still learning about DP's and all their complexity! We will learn together!

What model # is it? I have a 8386 and it has a Cat 350. I don't see a cat 300 listed in the factory brochure.
If it's and 8386 (38') the air filter is located in the rear most compartment on the drivers side. It does take a bit of work to replace it but doable.
Oh sorry to here you got a goof stream.

Hi, We have a 2006 Crescendo 8356 36' with a C7 Dialed up to 350hp by Yancy Caterpillar in Pooler, GA. The air intake filter for the C7 on mine is located under the very rear of the coach on drivers side. I replaced the unit myself with a FAR 114880-3 (ECO 9 3/4) $65.00. No problem to change that I found but I do recommend you wear protective glasses to keep road debris and dust from falling into your eyes. The RACOR ECO instructions that come with the filter are quite straight forward. I did entirely remove the duct connected to the intake air tube from the outside air to ease positioning and installation of the new filter. All in all, about 45 minutes about a 3 on difficulty.............. go for it!
