2006 Sun Voyager: Need some encouragement

The wife and I are about to pull the trigger on a 2006 Sun Voyager. We fell in love with the layout, so open and light. It has about 50k miles on it, very clean and the price is within our budget. However, I can't deny it's seems a little disconcerting to buy a unit who's manufacturer is no longer making a class A motorhome. I know most parts and appliances are pretty standard across the industry and I'm a pretty handy guy (don't ask the boss). However, if I need a windshield or body parts I figure I'm going to be out of luck.
We currently own a TT and I grew up with parents that had several motorhomes. Should I be concerned?

Most of the parts for motorhomes are "off the shelf". You could have a problem with a very few parts, but not many. Windshields, lights inside and out, windows, etc are not special to that motorhome. Gulfstream will probably have a few special parts in the warehouse. I would not hesitate to buy a ophranged coach. In fact I did buy a aluminum Airstream motorhome. (And never had a parts problem.)

No concern on that; just pay attention to CONDITION AND PRICE ADJUSTMENTS based on faults/ missed maintenance/ damage, or repairs that will cost big $$ (ROOF/ TIRES/ ENGINES) if all works and roof maintained and engine maintained, sounds good but check NADA; 50k miles= they just worked the bugs out :-) Hidden roof leaks is another story.

We're getting closer to signing. We took it out for a spin yesterday and we were very impressed. The last motorhome I drove was my Dad's Southwind back in about 1985. That thing had nylon-based tires and it banged down the highway for the first 20 miles till the tires heated up and lost their flat spot. And the squeaks, rattles and shakes, oh boy. Anyway, none of that in this unit.

Well, she's/he's/it's ours. It's hotter than Hades here this weekend, plus it's almost July 4th. So no walkthru till next week which is fine by me. The wife and I will be transferring stuff from the TT to the MH in the meantime. I was happily surprised to find that the previous owner had installed 200 watts of solar panels, a full Banks power pack, a Magellan GPS and a King satellite system. Now if it all works.............

I bought my 8295 last March and have done a ton of upgrades. I think the one's that made the biggest difference were the tires and the shocks. Might want to look at your shocks and make sure you don't have the skinny factory ones on there. Can't say about the Workhorse chassis but the ones on the Ford chassis weren't near satisfactory. I put some Koni shocks all around and made a world of difference.
