I'm looking at a 93 Tour Master and finding myself quite tempted as the thing looks really nice (the interior looks like it was higher end back then than now). No slides is the only shortcoming that I can see.
Any reason to avoid this year & model? It is the 300HP engine option, but I don't know which of the 2 models it is (I can only assume the difference is just layout).
Common problems in those years to look out for?

Oh, and what kind of mpg can I expect? I was told 12 but that seems like it may be a bit high.
And anyone know if the tanks are enclosed and heated? Looking to do alot of sub-zero boondocking and most certainly do not want to be worrying about frozen pipes. Tried calling Gulf Stream but just get a full mailbox (get the distinct feeling their DP division, and possibly their gas A division, is done for).

Check out this Rate your Gulf Stream thread and I am sure you will get some good info.
What length Tour Master? They were the flagship of Gulf Stream till near the end. I have a Scenic Cruiser that we have been very happy with. You should find out if the engine is Cat or Cummins and if Cummins if it is an ISB or ISC block. I think it may be under powered with an ISB.

Thanks for the response Wizard. This is a 39', the only length they made in 93. Judging by the interior it is definitely from the high end years. It is the 300HP 8.3 Cummins, but don't know ISB or ISC. Can't find any damn info on these things and, like damn near every seller I have talked to, no-one seems to know anything about their own coach.
I did come across a gulf stream owners forum with some amount of activity, but not enough to get a response apparently.

The 8.3 is the ISC although that year will probably be the mechanical and not the electronic version. The hp can be bumped up; you have the block with some good torque values. One thing that will be most important will be that the unit was properly maintained. Make seller produce records and have possible sale contingent on an inspection by a qualified technician(s).

Engine _should_ be good. Finally talked to the owners who used to own a trucking company and sounds like they actually know something about diesels. New seals last year too. The big Q for me at this point is how well it will fare in the cold, and if it is gonna like to start at -20C. Suppose an hour on the genny/block heater will take care of that tho.
