92 Sun Voyager 5.9 oil differential oil

I know it takes 75-90 gear oil. Is there a special oil requirement? And can synthetic be mixed is there a benefit ?

You can mix synthetic with conventional oil but the benefits of synthetic will be diluted by the conventional oil.

Doing a complete change involves pulling both wheel hubs, since they are supplied by the center differential and hold a quart of oil or so.

Synthetic can be mixed with regular oil , but I wouldn't bother unless it is called for by the manufacturer . Synthetic will sometimes leak at the seals where as conventional oil will not.
