96 Sun Generator will not turn off?

Hi all I have a 1996 sun voyager ford gas power 460 35 footer , generator gn- 460 will not turn off when I hit the kill switch ? It takes about 3 to 4 minutes and then it doses turn off? Even the switch at the generator has the same delay? The Rv has been parked for 2 years and it started to do this it was fine before.. I went and talked to our local rv service manager he said his never hard of this before? Anyone ever have this happen?

When I press the switch to shut down my generator it immediately cuts the ignition off and the generator spins to a stop. Download the manual for your generator and check the trouble-shooting guide. Perhaps you have a relay that's sticking.

The switch cuts the ignition. You do have to hold it down until the engine slows to a stop or it will fire the spark plugs and continue to run. That doesn't sound like what the OP's issue is, not if he has to hold it 3-4 minutes. His actually sounds like the kill switch is wired to the fuel pump, not the ignition. That's the only way I figure it could take so long to stop, it finally runs all the fuel out to stop. It could be a previous owner's modification to empty the carb of fuel, but it's not standard.
