My camper has only one house 12 volt battery and I think there is room for a second battery.

The existing battery is 7 months old. Would it cause a problem adding a second battery in the bank to this one, or do the two batterys need to be nearly exactly the same age and rating? Thanks.

AT 7 months old it should be in good condition assuming you haven't run it dead. just get a second battery rated the same as the first.
Be sure you wire them correctly
