I just bought a 2004 Crescendo and joined the GS forum. I am kind of discouraged looking at some posts! This one look really good inside and out and seems in great shape. It is my first diesel and is a Cat engine on freightliner chassis. I won't, of course . have warrenty through GS.

My dad had a Gulf Stream. Trade it in for a Holiday Rambler. He will tell you that was the worst trade he ever made. Dad owned four motor homes. The Gulf Stream was his most favorite.

I own a GS 30' Class A Independence.....I like the MH but it is cheaply built in places, but then it is an entry level too.....That said, I have had good luck with it....

My big gripe, and why I will never buy another GS, is their total lack of cust service, even tho they are still in business......I have had a couple of questions and never any response from the mfg, even tho on more than one occasion I was promised an answer.....

My independent RV tech here in San Diego stopped working on any warranty work ref GS products about a year ago due to their lack of payment after authorizing the work or months later paying for the work done under warranty....

It is really unfortunate because I think they did put out a good product at one time...Sooo many disgruntled owners tho means something happened along the way....Too bad, I like mine but will look elsewhere when time to upgrade....

Well I can't say that my Canyon Trail fifth wheels have been problem free, but GS always stepped up and took care of my problems. After having a roof problem on my last Canyon Trail that was well out of warranty, GS still stepped up and helped with the replacement. Because of the excellent customer service I have received I purchased another Gulf Stream.
I think most people will post problems on the internet forums but few will give praise. To answer your post, yes I like my Gulf Stream a lot and hope to get many years of use out of it.

I purchased a 99 Gulf Stream Sun Voyager diesel pusher. Had contact Gulf Stream about some problems and where I can get replacement items. Had no problems with Gulf Stream good customer service and since I believe that they make a good airplane, they should also make a good RV. Love my rig and next one will also be a GS.

I spent about 5 years doing some homework on what would work for us when the time came. To be honest, I did not give Gulf Stream much thought; from what I was reading on the forums. One of our customers was a Gulf Stream dealer and so I had seen them but never inspected them. When we ran across this one and checked it out (reluctantly), the more I looked, the more I liked what I was seeing. We bought our Scenic Cruiser in March of 01. Lived in it full time for 7.5 years and have not had any problems but a few cracked tiles in the bathroom. I have had issues but not of Gulf Stream's responsibility. I have been told that Gulf Stream (and others) have had good years and not so good years of quality. Ours being the millennium edition, I think means they went above the norm to produce a quality coach and it has shown to be so.

My Cresendo it two years newer, 2006.I got it as a repo so did not pay much for the POS. Cat engine and Freightliner Chases are fine but the rest it so poor in workmen ship it's sad. I have done so much to improve this coach. Slide out units are build crocked aka not square.
Slide out seals on top don't even touch the slide out. Awaning hit's the kitchen slide, so you have to have the awaning out a foot or so before operating the slide. his is just a couple of items. I could wright a book on this crap builder. 95% of the people who buy and RV have no clue as to what's proper and what's been cheapened by the builder. If they can cut a corner they do it.

This is our first motorhome, but we bought a 2004 Crescendo 8356 late this spring. We have put ~3000 miles on it and have taken 5 trips. We are very happy with it, and it has been very reliable. We have the Cat 330 Hp with Freightliner, and so far...all has been great. I have no idea how much it took to get it to this point (it's first 47000 miles of life), but we have no complaints.

We have a '93 GS Sunvoyager, and we really like it but of course the price was right, the previous owner took great care of it , we are mostly doing the maintenance that wasn't done due to previous owners health, got all of the manuals, receipts for everything that was done to it. But, since it was my sister and her husband being the previous owners, we already knew the quality of it. Since we got this one, I just looked at different RV sales and there doesn't seem to be very many GS Sunvoyagers for sale. If I ever need to get another RV it will more likely be a Gulf Stream.

Congrats to those of you with good warranty experience. It is especially interesting to hear some say they had GS help after their warranty expired. You must have good karma.

In Sept 2009 just last year, we bought a new, unused, 2007 Sun Voyager. Even though it was new, never used, and sold as a new unit from the dealer, GS said it has sat on the lot too long and they flately refused any type of warranty. I even tried to negotiate by asking for only the Coach Net roadside service that comes free with new units. They did not even reply to that.

Then I had TrailerLife magazine do their support for customer problems effort. GS replied to them saying the same thing I was told.

I'm sure like every mfgr, they have good and bad units, customer service incidents, etc. Unfortunately I was one of the customers that got screwed.

We are grateful it is otherwise a good unit. With the interior design mods made by my wife and I, its really pretty nice inside.

SAY? Where does one post good ideas about upgrades on the forum???

John, depending on the area of the upgrade, they can be posted in various forums from chassis, to systems, to MH problem & Solutions. Good luck and keep us posted.

John, I would not let GS get away with this. Write a letter to Better Business and to your state Attorney. I use to be in sales and the MFG alway honored the warranty from the day my business sold the product. Good luck and let us know what happens. Just like you said. Sold as a New Unit.
