Basement Door Locks

Does anyone know who makes the latch locks on the basement doors of a 2001Scenic Cruiser? I have two locks that are non-op. Key goes in but will not turn. I think they must be a universal lock because my key will work in a lot of my friends basement doors. Also can they be replaced w/o replacing the entire latch assembly?

Many Thanks, Jim

Have you tried lubricating the lock tumblers first? Mine are made by Tri Mark.

Jespeg - The locks are OEM. I am the original owner and have never changed them out.

RV Wizard - I'll give the lock a shot of lube. I sorta figured they were Tri-Mark. Most of the locks on the bus are from them, but I haven't got around to checking their web site yet. Old age u know .

If you need to replace them check this out

RVLocksAndMore | RV Locks | RV Keys | Fastec FIC Locks and Keys

I only needed a new plunger but the local RV store only sold the entire unit for $50. The price here was $12 for the complete unit so I just swapped out the plunger. There's another site that sells just the plunger but they wanted $35. Lock was fixed for $12 and I have a few more spare parts should I need them.

RV Wizard - Tried the lube and it worked. Feels as if something is binding inside the lock but it does work now. Hopefully for awhile. Tri-Mark's web site does have replacement locks but not sure how to get them into the latch. The unit looks sealed. If this one goes, I can give their cust service a call.

Ret Syntst - Thanks for the web site tip. It is now in my reference file in case this goes.

Many Thanks to all.

If this is the round locks with the big chrome key, your key is wearing out. These keys were made of soft medal and would wear down on the edges and stop gripping the lock. New keys are available from the dealers. The keys usually were imprinted SouthCo.

I know this is an old thread but I just had to replace some of my basement locks on a 93 Tourmaster. The round locks are made by Southco. In my case they were E3-5-15. I ended up ordering 2 replacement locks and replacement keys. The new keys do match my existing locks.

Another tip that I learned is that the locks have a deep "well nut" on the inside of the door that hold the locks in. This is also a Southco part and isn't available anywhere in the universe except Allegis Corporation.
