I went over to the storage area yesterday to do some work on the coach, got all set by starting the gen and turning on the air. I went out to the car to get a tool and closed the door of the coach, well it has not opened since. It is not locked and I can not seam to force it open. I had a locksmith come out and although we have not got the entire handle off it is out of the way and not the problem, The dead bolt and the lock are not engaged, the door is stuck, we had to crawl though the window to get inside in order to work on the lock etc, finally he gave up, and I don't blame him, and so now what?
2005 Gulfstream Sunvoyager. Of course there is only the one door.

Have you tried operating the leveling jacks to see if the coach might be in a bind?

Darn no and I should have thought about that. I did get the door open yesterday, finally, Today I need to go find a new handle. I don't think it will be to hard, it is the square style black one with lock and dead bolt. I think after the regular lock pin broke we were not able to get the remaining part back far enough out of the lock plate. I hope I can determine the root cause before I install the new assembly.
Thanks for the post.

I had the same thing happen to me this past March. I went out to start the BBQ and could not get back in. I crawled in a window to get in. I could not open from the inside either. After drilling and cutting with my dremel tool for and hour. I could see (I hope I describe it so everyone understands) Basically the part that is the accentual spring loaded latch itself had broke. Where it broke at in you tried to open the door it no longer pulled the spring loaded latch back. I was finally able to get a small screw driver in and pull the latch back to open the door. What I did because I was in the middle of nowhere was remove the latch part put it back together and used the dead bolt to hold the door closed. I believe the way the latch is designed that it will happen again I plan on trying to find a different door latch mech. Intill then I believe I am rolling the dice till it breaks again. Where it broke it was thing and made of pop metal. Here is a pic of mine.

The pic does not seem to work here is the link to the pic.

I picked up a new assembly this afternoon and will installl it, I hope, tomorrow. That pic for you is right on that is the same as my handle. I also had the pot metal part of the slide break which caused this entire episode, well it is all learning I guess. Now I will have some new keys and thus some old keys to carry with me to help out other folks. I will let you know how the install goes.

Well I now have the new door handle assembly installed on the coach and all is well. Now I am back into the bath room looking for a water leak that made the floor soft, I think it came from the outside shower but it will be a few days of testing before I feel comfortable with that. I am also in the process of removing the old floor and will be install a new one, at least in the affected area.

Thanks for the update. Yep, there is always something to do on RV's! One thing though, the more maintenance the fewer repairs.
